Educate a girl, empower a woman, inspire a community, change lives!

On average over the past five years, we have sponsored 4 girls per year in Ghana.

The following story is from one of our beneficiaries, highlighting her ambition and the obstacles that prevented her from completing secondary school before she was sponsored.

To protect her identity, the name of the girl has been changed.

Beatrice’s Story

“I love teaching and imparting knowledge to other people, because that is what I have always dreamt of becoming in life”

Beatrice is one of seven siblings of her unemployed parents. Her mother is partially blind and it is very difficult for them to meet the family’s living expenses. Her parents could not afford her school fees, so she would have to leave school for days to earn money to pay for her own school fees and buy books. However, as a result of sponsorship she has stayed in school, equipped herself with all the necessary school materials and has improved upon her grades since the previous year.

“I have a passion for teaching and I often gather my mates to teach them when there is no teacher in the classroom. However, my passion is being threatened because of my family’s financial status. A part of the grant you awarded me last year was used to pay for school fees and feeding fees. The other part was used for supplies such as a calculator, school uniform and books. If this sponsorship is renewed, it will enable me to study with ease and I will continue to excellent results every term because I will not have the pressure of finding fees or being sent home from school.”
