Educate a girl, empower a woman, inspire a community, change lives!

On average over the past five years, we have sponsored 8 girls per year in eSwatini.

The following story is from one of our beneficiaries, highlighting her ambition and the obstacles that prevented her from completing secondary school before she was sponsored.

To protect her identity, the name of the girl has been changed.

Noku’s Story

“I want to pull my socks up and study a lot so I can improve my performance and achieve my dream of becoming a pilot”

Her mother, on the pretence that she would return the following week, left Noku with her grandparents. That following week became years and she did not see her mother again. Noku also does not know where her father is, the last time she saw him he was sick and does not currently know if he is even still alive. Noku’s grandparents were already looking after six other orphans when she came to live with them and they all suffer under challenging conditions. The CGEF were able to step in and assist in paying her fees, which alleviated the pressure from her grandparents.

“I am very grateful and blessed to have people who care about me. If it wasn’t for you who knows, maybe I would have never been in school, but because you care for me I am in school, doing well and have no dilemmas”
